The Return of the Springbok Hans Christian Anderson couldn't have written a greater fairy tale than this. And what a happy ending, for South Africa that is, Francois Pienaar lifting the cup after receiving it from the Springbok shirted Nelson Mandela. After years in the international wilderness, the Boks were back as the world's number 1 team. A complete set of South Africa's programmes from the 1995 Rugby World Cup. Starting with the magnificent defeat of 1991 champions Australia through the other pool matches against Canada & Romania, the quarter final victory over Samoa, a classic semi-final win against France and who can forget Joel Stransky's drop goal in extra time to defeat tournament favourites New Zealand. Six programmes in total, all in excellent condition. |

1980 Springboks v
British Lions No 21 jersey - This item is part of the 'Mike
Slemen Collection', England's legendary wing three-quarter, it is
accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Mike Slemen. Mike played in only the one
test and he retained his Lions jersey, he was unable to obtain a Springbok shirt for
his collection. Knowing this, Syd Miller brought back this substitutes
jersey and gave it to Mike after the tour. We are not sure who it
belonged to but we do know that it is a test jersey from this series. This was the last Springbok team
to defeat the Lions in a test series. The players that wore
number 21 in the series are P Edwards & TMD Cocks, number 21 for the
3rd test is unlisted in the match programme. It is a 42" Maxmore jersey in excellent condition.

| 1921 SPRINGBOKS RUGBY ORIGINAL PHOTO A beautiful photo of the 1921 Springboks, the first S African team to tour New Zealand. The photo (which is original by Crown Studios, Wellington)) is mounted, framed and glazed. The mount is printed with the teams details and the players are named. This is very likely to be a photo presented to the South Africans by the New Zealand Rugby Union in appreciation of their tour. There is some water damage to the lower part of the mount otherwise the condition is good. The series between NZ and South Africa was drawn, with both teams winning a match and the final test ending in a draw. A superb piece of sporting memorabilia. Ref: NW-phastrnz1921 - £295.00 |

presents 1906 Springboks collection 1906 Springboks signed ball. A 'Zug' ball possibly manufactured in South Africa but certainly available for purchase in SA, see the Perrins & Burke, Port Elizabeth advert, where you can buy the 'Zug' for 15 shillings. This advert is dated 1910. The signatures have faded on the ball and written on one of the panels is 1906 Springboks, this can only be seen at a certain angle and light, we can only make out the one autograph which is Stegmann, match balls at this time were normally autographed by both teams who had played in a match. The bladder has been replaced in this ball. This ball is certainly a case for the conservationist. The photo of a signed ball is one of the 1906 tourists that was illustrated in Piggot's book of the tour, see below, item number 5. (WRM-0357) Wales v South Africa 1st Decemebr 1906 official programme - (WRM-0434) 1906/7 Springboks, signed team photo, an official team photograph signed by the Springbok touring party. 26 signatures in total. Krige & SW Morkel are pictured in the inserts, both players were in hospital at the time of the photo. The total size for the photograph is 55cm x 44cm (22" x 18"), there is a slight damp stain to the bottom left and there are some marks on the sides where the photo has been removed from a frame. Ref: (RR- LN4) "The Sprinbokken Tour in Great Britain" by EJL Platnauer (book) (not illustrated) - an absolutely fantastic account of this great tour, match by match reports plus extensive player biographies, superbly illustrated with many full page plates.(WRM) "The Springboks - History of the Tour" (book) by FN Piggot, 1st edition published in 1907 (WRM) "The Carolin Papers" (book) by Laubscher & Nieman - a diary of the tour, published in 1990, based on the diary and memorabilia of Paddy Carolin. (WRM) A 'Taunton Park Gates' postcard sent by Springbok full back Arthur Marsberg during the 1906/7 Springbok tour of Britain. The card, has been sent to Mr Hodges, c/o WN Cooper's Chemist, West End, Kimberley, South Africa. Kimberley was the home town of Marsberg. The message reads "Dear Mr Hodges, What do you think of your country now ? How is everybody getting on in the West End ? Man I cannot see what people want to leave such a nice country as this for, thanks for P.G.. Kind regards to HA - (signed) Marsberg. The postcard is postmarked Taunton 19th October 1906. The Springboks arrived in Taunton on the morning of the 19th, they played Somerset a day later winning against the West Country men 14 - 0. This was the eighth match of the tour and the Springboks were still unbeaten. The card has also been postmarked West End, Kimberley, Nov 6th and Kimberley, Nov 7th. (RR-F9-268) Monmouthshire County v South Africa 1906 ribbon, in excellent condition. This 8cm ribbon allowed committee members and players access to all areas during the match which took place at Newport on Boxing Day 1906. This ribbon belonged to the Monmouthshire player Jack Jenkins. (WRM-0548) 'The Springbok Waltz' composed by Sophie Pohl, music to dance by, dedicated to the South African Rugby Football Team, The Springboks. printed and published by Ben Wallach, Jo'burg. 7 pages of music with a nicely illustrated front cover. spine detached.
