BRADFORD NORTHERN v ST HELENS 1979 PROGRAMME

NEW FLOODLIGHTS at ODSAL STADIUM

From the collection of David Lovenbury 1941-2023

27 November 1979 saw the new floodlights being used for the first time at Odsal Stadium, Bradford. St Helens were the visitors in a first division league match. Floodlights were first used at Odsal when Northern played the touring New Zealanders in 1951. Trevor Foster the Northern legend along with other reminisce about that game in a article inside the programme. The programme is 20 pages, and pages with information can be found illustrated below.

David enjoyed and played Rugby Union at school in Staffordshire. He settled in Yorkshire in 1970, watching Bradford Northern during the early 1980s, later becoming a season ticket holder. Eventually football won out in 1986, he and his children became season ticket holders at Liverpool. Despite this he would still watch televised Union and League matches. He retained some of the more 'special' programmes which the family have kindly donated to the World Rugby Museum.
