About Us

AIMS AND AMBITIONS - Originally we intended Sport-Wales to be a network whose sole purpose was to develop and improve Welsh Sport. From our view point there are large holes in the support that Welsh sportsmen and women receive from governing bodies. Top level athletes are looked after through professional sport and world class performance programmes and support is plentiful for grass roots development through the community chest grant programme, but for aspiring sportsmen, those who want to dedicate their existence to reaching their potential there is little or no support. Sport-Wales wants to help all but we especially want to help those people who believe in themselves.

THE TEAM - We are not just passionate about Welsh sport, we live, eat, breathe and sleep Welsh Sport. Sport-Wales is the brainchild of Dai Richards, a Welsh senior international at 6 different sports (cyclo cross, triathlon, mountain running, mountain biking, duathlon & marathon kayaking. Dai is ably assisted by wife Hayley and kids Vicky Richards (5 times Welsh under 18 slalom kayak champion & Great Britain & Welsh international at slalom kayak), Dale Thomas (Welsh international at orienteering and cyclo cross), Simon Thomas (Welsh international at orienteering) and Laurie Richards (Welsh international at shopping). Currently Sport-Wales is part of the Rugby Relics Ltd group, the world's leading suppliers of rugby memorabilia, which also includes World Rugby Museum an on-line look at the history of Rugby Football, the national sport of Wales. Our future ambitions are to take Sport-Wales out of the Rugby Relics Ltd group as an independent voice and support group for anyone and everyone who wants to help develop Welsh sport. We want to employ a 'freestyle' sports development team, a team whose sole reason for existence is to improve the quality of sport in Wales. Meanwhile we are building a foundation for Sport-Wales with this in mind.

SUPPORT - We are looking to the future and how we can put the ideals of Sport-Wales into action. Presently we are supporting family members and friends who represent Wales at their chosen sports.

We are taking donations of sporting memorabilia to sell on behalf of Sport-Wales athletes. 80% of the funds raised through the sale of this sports memorabilia will go to expenses and equipment for Sports-Wales athletes (20% towards administration costs)
