Stuart Watkins, Mervyn Davies & Gareth Edwards. This match was
the first in the 1969 Triple Crown season and can be regarded as the
first match of the 1970s Golden Era, Wales defeated Scotland 17 - 3
with Maurice Richards, gareth Edwards and Barry John scoring tries,
Keith Jarrett kicked the remaining points. First caps were awarded
to both JPR Williams and Mervyn Davies in this match - both went on
to become Triple Crown captains in the 1970s. The programme is in

Canada 1971. This match saw 2 of Neath's favourite sons, second row
Barrie Davies & scrum half Martyn Davies play for Wales. For
both players this was their only appearance in the scarlet jersey,
both played for the 'B' team but neither went on to play for the
national team in a capped match. This programme is signed throughout
by 16 players from both teams, including the Davies boys previously
mentioned. The front cover bears the autograph of Barry John while
other notable Welsh players who have signed the programme are JJ
Williams, Jeff Young, John Lloyd & Dai Morris.

from the collection of Rees Stephens, the Welsh No 8 (letter N) in
this match. Autographs include Bleddyn Williams, Billy Cleaver, John
Gwilliam & Gwyn Evans of Wales WD McKee, E Strathdee, J Nelson
& DJ O'Brien of Ireland. Stephens autograph appears in ink on
the front cover along with that of Noel Henderson the Irish centre.
There are 19 autographs in total on the centre pages. This was a
Triple Crown match for Ireland, they triumphed 5 - 0 over Wales in
St Helens, Swansea

Welsh players and personalities, the signatures of the full Welsh team
include John Dawes, Alun Pask, Dewi Bebb, Clive Rowlands & Stuart
Watkins, personalities include the Tokyo 1964 gold medallist Lynn Davies
and the Welsh cap record holder of the time and former Olympic silver
medal winner, Ken Jones. this was the first match of Wales' 1965 Triple
Crown campaign. The name B Thomas is written on the front, this is
possibly the signature of Brian Thomas and may have been his personal
copy. This programme is sold together with a certificate guaranteeing
the authenticity of the autographs and a 10 x 8 photograph of the team.
